Discipline
The Children’s Station will not utilize aversive disciplinary procedures. No corporal or unusual punishment will be used. Positive reinforcement in the form of verbal praise and age appropriate rewards are given for successful task completion, appropriate behaviors and the absence of inappropriate behaviors as they relate to the child’s health status. Since communication deficits are often the root of behavioral issues, a speech therapist may be constituted on adapted communication techniques.
TCS staff will not use physical restraint as an intervention if a child is acting out or in crisis. The parent or guardian will be notified of their child’s unacceptable behavior and his/her response to crisis intervention.
